Have recently returned from a superb holiday at The Old Stables, Linden Cottage . This was our third visit in the last twelve months and yet again it exceeded our expectations! Located at the foot of The Holiesi it is really ideal for walkers, nature lovers and for visiting so many places of interest. The owners are really considerate and respond immediately to all requests in a friendly manner. The cottage is spotlessly clean, fully equipped and extremely comfortable.
Thank you to Sue for her kindness throughout.

Chérie ,

We stayed at this beautiful location and property for a week 4/7-9/7 there is nothing i can say i would improve. It was spotless, comfortable and well situated and private. Everything was thought of and catered for. There were board games for the children and dvds also some books. Lovely well kept garden and garden set. Perfect for relaxing in the sun. There is lots of local amenities basildon park close by. Streatly village just a walk away. The cottage was well spacious enough for the 6 of us. Thanks also for the welcome pack. Even though we never met the owner she made us feel very welcome. Thanks a million

Quentin Hammant ,

We greatly enjoyed our stay in the cozy Old Stables in May. A charming setting with cows in the field nearby and small private garden. Very quiet with easy access to the main road. The cottage was clean, thoughtfully decorated, and well organized down to the carefully labelled light switches and complete welcome notebook, full of information about the cottage and the area. The owner Sue is a lovely person, on hand to answer our questions. We felt sad when we left.

Nancy & Jack,

We recently stayed in this comfortable spacious cottage and had the best week’s staycation
we have ever had! Everything possible was available by way of equipment for self catering, the beds were really comfortable and the whole cottage was immaculate.
The host and hostess were friendly, showing great care and consideration to our needs, but were in no way intrusive.
The cottage is spectacularly located next to The Holies. This affords a paradise for walkers and people who appreciate flora and fauna. A short walk across the Holies brings you to Lardon Chase and joins The Ridgeway footpath. Proximity to The Thames Path also gave us some wonderful walks without needing to use the car.
We will return!

Cherie,

Found this place immediately after lock-down. Went to visit all our families. Perfect location for north London, Southampton, Surrey - all only an hour or so away. Lovely house with everything you could think of provided. Close to picturesque villages and by the Thames (Jimmy Page used to live up the road) and easy reach of shops including Ikea. Many great walks that start literally at the from door. Love to visit again sometime.

Jonathan Warne,

The Old Stables is an exceptionally good place for four people to stay for a week or more. Sue is an excellent host - very welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is first class, roomy and stylish, and very well equipped. The location is brilliant, with great walks over the downs, by the river and into Goring. Anyone staying there will surely want to return.

Ian McKenzie,

Such a lovely place to stay. The cottage is comfortable, smart and stylish. Sue has thought of everything and it was so well equipped. The location is perfect for walks along the Ridgeway and Thames Path, as well as having the National Trust Holies and Lardon Chase on the doorstep with stunning views over the Chilterns. It’s also really convenient for Goring with pubs and facilities only a short walk away. Sue was the perfect host, thoughtful and great with communications. We will definitely be coming back, it was a superb place to stay. A very big thank you 😊

Tracey Watson ,

Sue is the perfect host, couldn't do enough in providing information prior to our vist in regards to directions and local facilities. Stopping in the cottage on buisness we could not appreciate the local area, but what we seen of it driving to reading ever day was outstanding. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and tidy with everything you expect in your own home.

Ian dawson,

This cottage is by far the best kitted out and most comprehensively equipped self catering house we have ever stayed in worldwide and believe me we have stayed in a great many worldwide. All the fixtures and fittings are top quality. The bed mattress very comfortable and the bath towels huge! There is everything on the kitchen you would ever want and more. With lovely touches like binoculars to spot the bird life. The whole house is spotlessly clean and it passed my holiday home top scrutiny test such as no dust on skirting boards or inside window edges and all the drawers in the cupboards etc had been carefully cleaned. Not a crumb or bit of fluff in sight. The cottage is set back from the road enough so at night there is only a very dull hum of some car noise in the distance. Waking up to a field of lovely cows and baby calves in the next door field with a Red Kite soaring overhead was lovely. A peaceful gone from home stay. The owners who live next door are helpful but completely unintrusive. Definitely a place to be highly recommended

Mike and Judy Barradell-Smith ,

We very much enjoyed our family holiday (four adults and two children) in The Old Stables at the end of July despite the very hot weather! The cottage was well equipped and very well appointed. It is well located with plenty of places of interest easily accessible. One of our holiday aims was to walk sections of the Thames Path and for this the Old Stables was very convenient, with Goring having good access to the Path and well connected transport links.
Looking forward to visiting again in the near future

Mr D.R.Robinson,

We were delighted with the style , cleanliness and location of the cottage. It is easy to walk into Streatley and Goring and along the Thames Path. It's an ideal base for visiting various places. We went to Windsor and to Reading to catch a train into London for a day of sightseeing as well as visiting a few pubs in local villages, A National Trust House and Gardens is only 2 miles away. It's ideal for couple or families. Our family asked if we can go back again !
